Sew Usocome's strategic expansion: a blueprint for modern logistics

Sew Usocome, a key player in drive and automation solutions and part of the global Sew-Eurodrive group, has inaugurated a significant 25,000 square meter extension at its crucial industrial and logistics site in Brumath, located in France's Grand Est region.

This substantial €74 million investment expands the site's total footprint from 33,000 to approximately 58,000 square meters, making it one of Sew-Eurodrive's largest global hubs. The expansion underscores a strong commitment to enhancing operational capacity, efficiency, and future resilience, offering a compelling case study for businesses exploring industrial facilities and warehouse space in France.

Unprecedented scale and automated efficiency

The newly expanded Brumath facility is engineered for high-volume operations, capable of processing an impressive 4,500 orders per week. At its core is a state-of-the-art automated warehouse, standing 24 meters high and stretching 68 meters long. This facility boasts a massive storage capacity of over 3,500 pallets and 120,000 bins.

Designed for peak performance, it can process up to 2,400 bins and 80 pallets per hour, complemented by six automated picking stations serviced by AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles). Sew Usocome's strategic vision includes managing its entire logistics operations from this site by the end of 2025, aiming to effectively navigate market fluctuations and ensure supply chain stability.

Pioneering future growth with further investment

This expansion is just one phase of Sew Usocome's ambitious €250 million investment plan, projected through 2031. Looking ahead, the company has already earmarked a further €90 million for an additional 24,000 square meter extension at the Brumath site, with an expected delivery by early 2027.

This forthcoming facility will centralize stator winding activities, with the strategic goal of doubling production capacity to 12,000 stators annually.

This long-term commitment highlights Brumath's appeal as a location for significant industrial investment and job creation, with 15 employees already transferred and trained for the expanding operations.

What this means for businesses seeking industrial and warehouse space

Sew Usocome's monumental investment and strategic expansion in Brumath offer valuable insights for businesses evaluating locations for new or expanded industrial and logistics operations. The project exemplifies the trend towards highly automated, large-scale facilities designed for maximum efficiency and future readiness. It signals Brumath and the broader Grand Est region as a prime location offering:

Access to significant industrial land and development opportunities.

A skilled workforce supported by ongoing training initiatives.

Robust infrastructure capable of supporting advanced manufacturing and extensive logistics networks.

A strategic central European location for distribution hubs.

This development by a global leader like Sew Usocome reinforces the region's credentials as a robust ecosystem for advanced industrial and logistics enterprises. Companies looking to future-proof their operations and benefit from a dynamic industrial environment should take note of the innovative and scalable solutions being implemented in this vibrant French region.
