Salbris welcomes Gedimat's mega logistics hub

In a significant boost for regional logistics infrastructure, Alexandre Avril, the Mayor of Salbris (Loir-et-Cher), has announced the construction of Gedimat's national distribution center.

This ambitious project, involving an investment of €30 million, will see the transformation of the former GIAT industrial site into a state-of-the-art logistics platform spanning 42,000 m².

Developed by Idec for Gedimat, a leading cooperative in construction materials distribution (Gedicoop), this facility marks a major strategic expansion for the group.

Strategic location for optimal distribution

The new Gedimat logistics center in Salbris boasts an exceptional location, offering unparalleled connectivity for businesses. Situated near the A71 motorway, the platform is ideally positioned to rapidly serve key markets across Western, Central, and Southwestern France.

This strategic advantage is crucial for companies looking to optimize their supply chain and reduce transit times, making Salbris an increasingly attractive hub for national and regional distribution operations.

Modern facilities: warehouse & office space

Designed for efficiency and scale, the new facility will comprise a vast 40,000 m² warehouse, serving as Gedimat's national logistics nerve center. Complementing this extensive storage capacity are 2,400 m² of modern office spaces.

This integrated design provides businesses not only with substantial warehousing solutions but also with dedicated, high-quality administrative areas.

Whether you're an enterprise looking for a primary distribution point or seeking a regional hub with integrated office functions, this development sets a new benchmark.

Commitment to sustainability and innovation

Beyond its impressive size and strategic location, Gedimat's new platform is a testament to sustainable industrial development. The building will achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, underscoring its superior environmental performance.

Key features include a photovoltaic roof for renewable energy generation, optimized water and energy management systems, extensive green spaces, and parking areas equipped with electric vehicle charging stations. These eco-friendly attributes make it an attractive option for businesses prioritizing sustainability in their operations.

A legacy reborn: from industrial past to logistics future

The project breathes new life into the former GIAT armaments site, which had been closed for 25 years. Following previous unsuccessful attempts by developers like Deret-Prologis (2007) and Baytree (2019) to transform the site, Gedimat's successful acquisition and ambitious plan represent a significant revitalization for the local economy.

Construction is set to begin shortly, with completion expected in approximately one year, targeting operational readiness by 2027. This development underscores the growing demand for prime logistics real estate and the potential for strategic industrial site rehabilitation.
